Cliché no 7: “Ek glo maar soos ‘n kind”

  • “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Mt 18v3)
  • “Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it” (Mk 10v15)
  • 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work (2 Tim 3v14-16)
  • 11 About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. 12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, 13 for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. 14 But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil (Heb 5v11-6v1)
  • 2 Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation (1 Pet 2v2)
  • …just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, 16 as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (2 Pet 3v15-18)
So terug by ons cliché.
Soos verwoord in die bekende gesang ‘Rock of Ages’: “nothing in my hands I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling”
